Ltd designs and develops satellite earth station Remote Control
and Monitoring Systems. These systems connect a computer or network
of computers to the individual elements of the satellite earth
station allowing the operator to see at a glance the status of
the complete installation. In addition, the system can provide
all the necessary logic for redundancy switching, unit level
remote control and monitoring, event logging and even power level
calibration.
System ElementsThe system consists of one or more personal computers, fitted with appropriate interface cards which connect to the alarm and control ports of each piece of equipment in the earth station. Typical installations have one PC fitted in the earth station equipment room, connected to the equipment, and a second remote PC fitted in the control center, connected by LAN or modem. Alarms & LoggingThe system uses an extremely clear visible and audible alarm notification, which instantly pinpoints the faulty equipment. The operator is clearly able to see the signal path affected, the redundancy path used, to manually over ride the automatic redundancy protection, and to view the front panel mimic of the faulty equipment directly from the computer screen. All alarms and other equipment and user actions are logged to the event log file.
